So there I was, hungry for a meal and at 1:45pm, and the lunch crowd is still at its peak despite having just the final 15 minutes to go before work starts at 2. Looking for a place in any eatery was almost as futile as trying to get a ticket to a Michael Jackson Resurrection concert if there ever was one.
So since I was still within the alloted time frame for one of those supersaver meal deals of McD's I thought might as well give a go for the manufactured but oh-so-yummy black pepper chicken McDeluxe meals for RM8.95. Wanted to be all health conscious and settle for the ala-carte burger only and do away the fries and coke. But for 45 cents extra from the ala-carte price of RM8.50 I decided to put in an extra mile for the treadmill later..... much much much later.......
Bla bla bla.....got my meal.....bla bla bla.....got the chilly sauce and straw from the satellite counter.....Then the problem started....
No available seats......
Oh wait.....there were seats.....but the general dwellers who settled their buttocks on the bench for the meals do not have the civic consciousness to clear their tables....hence seats are available, but the mess they created by eating a simple meal are not cleared by themselves, and generally new comers are not keen to clean up the mess of the previous person.....especially when they are sloppy eaters and get chilly or ketchup all over the table or ice cream stains which leave a sticky feel on the table... ick.....
Honestly, how long will it take to just put everything back into a tray, wipe the table with a napkin and deposit the whole tray and its waste at the available trash area?? Not long....and it reflects a civic consciousness that unfortunately is generally lacking in a nation that keeps calling itself developed when it is still immature.
9 out of 10 times, i successfully make an effort to at least clear my table and tray. On a few occasion with separate friends, I am often chided for doing such...."Didn't your mama teach you to leave this to the cleaners? That's what they're paid for....."
Well fortunate for me, "My mama taught me manners"

you mom would be proud to read this...
